Child Safeguarding

The Australian Artistic Swimming Championships Policy requires the following categories of attendees to have a current Working With Children Check (WWCC) from their home State/Territory to gain accreditation. WWCC details will be collected at the time of registration.

  • Judges
  • Technical Controllers
  • Coaches
  • Team Personnel (eg Team Managers)

NSW law does not require other people who volunteer at the Championships to have a WWCC as long it is the only event they work at in the calendar year in NSW. People who have a WWCC in their home jurisdiction are covered to work with children in NSW as long as the work is for less than 30 days.

Child Protection (Working with Children) Regulation 2013

20   Exemption from Act for specified workers and employers
(1)    (m) a worker who is working in and visiting New South Wales from outside the State for the purposes of a one-off event such as a jamboree, sporting or religious event or tour, if the event is the only child-related work carried out by the worker in New South Wales in that calendar year and the period of the work does not exceed 30 days,
